Laurin Weatherly, Attorney
Laurin Weatherly received her Juris Doctorate from the Charleston School of Law in 2013. She began her legal career in Columbia, South Carolina the same year. Laurin received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Business Associations from the University of South Carolina in 2010.
While in Charleston, Laurin was an active member of both the community and her law school. She served as a member of both the Student Bar Association and the Women in Law Board and volunteered with the Charleston County Guardian ad Litem program. Laurin also received the CALI award for excellence for Insurance Law in 2012. While in law school, Laurin became interested in the area of Tax Law and took several classes in advanced Federal Income Taxation. Eager to pursue her interests in Tax Law after graduation, Laurin became a member of the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers (ASTPS), a national, non-profit organization of tax professionals that trains attorneys focused on the fight for troubled taxpayers. ASTPS is the only organization solely devoted to the development of professional skills in this area of practice.
Laurin has attended several ASTPS Tax Problem Resolution seminars where she learned the skills needed to represent taxpayers before the IRS. She uses these skills daily in assisting individuals and businesses resolve their tax problems.
Alex Lall, Attorney
Alexander (Alex) Lall received his Juris Doctorate in 1998 from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha Nebraska. He spent his last year of law school as a visiting student while attending The John Marshall Law School in Chicago Illinois. He received his Bachelor of Science Business Administration in Marketing in 1995 from Creighton University. Alex is a licensed attorney in Illinois and is also certified as an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service. Alex and his wife moved to Charlotte in 2015 to be closer to family when their daughter was born.
Alex began his legal career in Denver Colorado. He has worked in the tax resolution field since 2001 and has helped hundreds of business and individual taxpayers from all 50 states address their tax matters. It is his firm belief that every tax case can be resolved, no matter how complex or the size of the liability owed.
In addition to working in the area of tax, Alex also has experience in the energy field doing title analysis and title curative work for several large oil and gas companies while living in Colorado. He has overseen large development projects covering Colorado, North and South Dakota and Montana.
He is pleased to have joined the Ecton Law Firm in February 2019 and looks forward to helping the firm’s clientele work through their issues successfully.
Shelby H. Sutusky, Attorney
Shelby Sutusky received her Juris Doctorate in 2006 from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida. She spent the last semester of law school as a visiting student while attending The University of South Carolina School of Law in Columbia South Carolina. She also attended The University of Alabama School of Law’s Masters in Tax Law Program for the 2011-2012 school year. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and Mass Communications in 2003 from The University of South Carolina. Shelby is a licensed attorney who resides in Irmo, SC with her husband and three children.
Shelby began her legal career as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Carolyn C. Matthews at the South Carolina Administrative Law Court from 2007-2011. After that time, she entered private practice, and appeared in matters before the SC Workers Compensation Commission, SC Court of Appeals and SC Circuit Court from 2011-2019. Her focus was primarily in insurance defense and debt collections matters. She then appeared before the Family Courts in South Carolina for issues involving the Department of Social Services.
She is pleased to have joined the Ecton Law Firm in January 2020 and looks forward to using her legal experience to represent taxpayers before the IRS.
Shauna Hall, Financial analyst
Shauna Hall is a cum laude graduate of North Carolina State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in 2010. She also graduated with a minor in Spanish and studied abroad at the University of Hawaii’ in 2009.
Shauna began her professional career in the sales industry where she spent three years working in business to customer sales where she gained valuable experience in customer/client relations and developed her skills in customer service.
Shauna began her career with Ecton Law Firm in December 2013. She feels right at home working at a tax resolution law firm that truly helps improve people’s lives. Shauna is dedicated to making sure every client and potential client have the absolute best experience possible with Ecton Law Firm. Shauna will work hard to ensure our firm provides you with the comfort and ease of solving your tax resolutions.
Shauna and her husband, Andrew, have started their family right here in the Midlands. They are actively involved in their church and spend their free time enjoying all the amenities that Columbia and Lake Murray have to offer. She may not be from South Carolina originally, but Shauna has embraced the South Carolina's Southern Hospitality and loves to call Columbia, South Carolina, Home.
B. Brittany Scantland-Lall
B. Brittany Scantland-Lall is pleased to have joined Ecton Law Firm in an of-counsel capacity to assist clients in estate planning. Brittany received her BA degree from Duke University and her JD degree from the University of Denver. She practiced local government and land use law in Colorado for eight years, and for seven years she taught business law and ethics at the University of Denver Daniels College of Business, before returning to North Carolina in 2015 to be closer to family. Pursing her personal interests, she also received a Master’s degree in Religious Studies from the University of Denver.
Regardless of the area of law, Brittany enjoys assisting clients achieve their goals in the simplest, most effective way that works for them, while ensuring they feel heard in all parts of the process. When not drafting wills, she enjoys spending time with her family, art, reading, and new adventures.
